Burger King’s Le Nugguette is the latest example of brands leaning into the bag trend.
Yet another brand debuted a chicken purse that sold out within moments this week, underscoring just how firmly chicken has cemented itself as a pop culture fixture in 2026. Burger King joined the trend with "Le Nugguette," a nugget-sized micro-bag introduced alongside the chain's new chicken nuggets and updated sauces.
Priced at $3.99 — matching a 4-piece nugget order — the bag comes with one of four sauce-inspired charms (Special Savory, Honey Mustard, Buffalo or Sweet & Sour) and a code for a free nugget order. Burger King released just 100 bags daily from September 12–16 exclusively through a dedicated site. According to USA Today, each daily “Le Nugguette” drop sold out in minutes and it’s not the only chicken purse that sold out in 2026.
Walmart's Chicken Purse sold out in hours
Walmart kicked off September — National Chicken Month — with a limited-edition "Chicken Purse" styled after its rotisserie chicken, offered in Traditional and Lemon Pepper versions at $5.97 each, the same price as the bird itself. The collection, including a set of coordinating charms modeled on rotisserie chicken pairings like Great Value Louisiana hot sauce, sold out within hours of its September 1 launch. Walmart said the sellout tracks with the underlying popularity of the product: the retailer sells 103 rotisserie chickens every minute in its stores, and roughly one in every 12 Walmart customers buys one each year. The chicken has generated more than 15,000 social media mentions over the past 12 months, according to the company. The company has since told customers a restock is coming.
Chomps got there first
Earlier this year, meat snack brand Chomps released "Le Chic'ken," a limited-edition bag designed to resemble the plastic containers used for grocery store rotisserie chickens, tied to a giveaway around National Rotisserie Chicken Day.
Why chicken, and why now
Three brands across two very different segments — grocery retail and quick service restaurants — leaning on the same idea within months of each other is no coincidence. And in each case, there is the same driving force. Chicken, in its various packaged and prepared forms, has become one of the most consistently popular items. Marketers, I’m looking forward to seeing what the next big chicken-themed accessory will be.
