U.S. Broiler Exports Quantity and Share of Production

February 12, 2026

The United States has long been a major player in the global poultry market, with broiler (chicken meat) exports representing a significant share of domestic production and serving key trading partners around the world. According to data from the National Chicken Council, the volume of U.S. broiler exports has grown dramatically since the 1960s — from just over 90 million pounds in 1960 (about 2.1% of production) to more than 6.6 billion pounds in 2025, representing roughly 13.8% of total broiler production — and is forecast to continue expanding in 2026.

This trend reflects the strength and competitiveness of U.S. poultry producers in global markets, even amid shifting international demand and trade conditions.
