EAEU and Uzbekistan Strengthen Customs Cooperation

May 12, 2026

Sergey Shklyaev, Minister for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), held a working meeting with Fanil Kadirov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the EEC, and Rovshan Akramov, representative of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of customs cooperation and further steps in implementing integration projects, such as organizing the exchange of customs information and Uzbekistan’s possible accession to the EAEU Agreement on a Unified Customs Transit System.

Special attention was given to the practical implementation of the EAEU agreement on the use of navigation seals for tracking cargo transportation, as well as the effects of their use for compliant businesses.

The EEC Minister invited representatives of Uzbekistan to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum, which will take place on May 28–29 in Astana. During EEF-2026, the customs block will hold a panel session focused on the digitalization of customs processes and the prospects for introducing elements of artificial intelligence into customs authorities’ operations.

The parties emphasized the importance of developing dialogue between EAEU member states and Uzbekistan, as well as maintaining systematic contacts to advance deeper integration processes.

The agreement on the use of navigation seals within the EAEU for tracking cargo transportation entered into force on February 11 of this year. Since then, more than 30,000 cargo shipments have been carried out across the EAEU territory using electronic navigation seals.
